Course Overview

The GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) – Onshore course is a mandatory safety certification for personnel working in the onshore wind energy industry.

Developed by the Global Wind Organisation (GWO), the BST Onshore package combines four core safety modules into a single, structured programme, ensuring delegates have the essential skills and knowledge to work safely in onshore wind turbine environments. GWO BST – Onshore includes Working at Heights, Fire Awareness, Manual Handling and First Aid.

GWO BST – Onshore is required by onshore wind farm operators, OEMs and contractors worldwide before personnel are permitted to:

  • Access onshore wind turbine sites
  • Work at height inside wind turbines
  • Perform installation, service or maintenance activities

Without valid GWO BST – Onshore certification, individuals may be refused site access or deployment.

To attend GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) – Onshore training, delegates must:
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be registered in the WINDA database
  • Be medically fit to work at height and participate in practical training
