Course Overview

The GWO Basic Technical Training (BTT) Combined course is designed for personnel entering the wind energy industry who require hands-on technical competencies to safely operate, inspect, and maintain wind turbines.

Developed by the Global Wind Organisation (GWO), this combined programme integrates core technical skills with essential safety modules, creating a single streamlined pathway for new technicians to achieve entry-level certification. The GWO BTT consists of four modules and an additional installation module which can be taken after certification in the mechanical module.

The GWO BTT is divided into the following five modules:

  • Mechanical
  • Electrical
  • Hydraulics
  • Bolt Tightening
  • Installation (additional module)

Prerequisites

To attend GWO Basic Technical Training (BTT) Combined, delegates must:
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be registered in the WINDA database
  • Be medically fit to participate in practical exercises
There are additional prerequisites for both the Bolt Tightening and Installation modules:
a) Before attending the BTT Bolt Tightening Module participants must first complete the BTT Mechanical Module.
b) Before attending the BTT Installation Module participants must first complete both the BTT Mechanical and BTT Bolt Tightening modules.
